Business News at Your Fingertips

Project Overview

The client launched an online Swedish magazine in 2004, which caters to small and medium-sized businesses. It serves as a social platform that enables readers to have their ideas and stories packaged and shared with journalists, bloggers and business-world influencers via its social web. The application we built for the client lets mobile users access relevant and entertaining news published in the magazine, on-the-go. The application supports both English and Swedish. Users automatically see news feeds for their selected region.

Business Requirement

The client wanted us to develop applications for their mobile reader base, making relevant and entertaining news easily accessible to smartphone users.

QBurst Solution

QBurst built the mobile applications for popular platforms such as BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Android, and Symbian with bilingual compatibility. These apps were designed to better address the needs of users such as small business owners who constantly need reliable and up-to-date information.

  • View latest news for categories available in the chosen region
  • Comment on news articles and view comment threads for a specific article, blog, or chronicle
  • Share news items using email, SMS, or social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Get a list of current chronicle writers working with the client's magazine
  • Update the editor about interesting news and trends
  • Search for news in the app using the news search feature
  • Subscribe to newsletters
  • Use the app in offline mode and in multiple languages

Business Benefits

  • 12% increase in magazine readership six months after launch.
  • Increased acceptance among corporate executives with easy access to the digital magazine on BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and Symbian devices.
  • Greater customer satisfaction delivered through a richer and more personalized experience.
  • Increased demand from small and medium sized businesses that are now able to reach out to more smartphone users through the application.

Client Profile

The client is a Dubai-based Media and Advertising company, which covers business news in the Middle East and Asia through its business news community website.

Business Challenge

  • The client's website faced limitations in reaching out to its target audience who are essentially corporate level executives.
  • News updates were accessible only by logging into the site.
  • The online magazine did not stand out from regular business news websites.
