In his recent article for Express Computer, QBurst CEO Arun ‘Rak’ Ramchandran examines the growing concern around “tokenmaxxing” and why focusing on token consumption alone can obscure the larger challenge of measuring the value of enterprise AI.
As organizations scale their use of AI agents, Rak argues that visibility into how these systems operate—and what they deliver—will become increasingly important. He describes this approach as “Glass Box AI”:
“Every agent, wherever it comes from, should have clear provenance and be able to show its work, what data it used, what rule it applied, how it arrived at an output. You cannot govern a cost, or a decision, that you cannot see, and right now most enterprises can’t see most of this.”
Rather than optimizing AI programs around consumption alone, he calls for enterprises to focus on the outcomes their AI investments produce and build the visibility needed to understand those outcomes.
